Some tough news to share.
The Red Ember food truck will be retiring after 9 seasons in the fall of 2021. It has been a wonderful pizza adventure these last 9 years, but it has also been hard on my family. The COVID restrictions of last year freed up time due to canceled festivals, weddings and a much smaller group of people working downtown. I was able to spend more time with my wife and kids. Summertime with them and it was wonderful, something I have missed since I started working a seasonal job at St. Charles Country Club in 1999. All things must come to and end, and it's The Red Ember's time.
I wish to thank all of our loyal customers for the tremendous support you have shown The Red Ember over the years. I can't express how your support of what we were trying to accomplish by focusing on locally grown vegetable and meat to make really good pizza has changed my life and the lives of my staff. The Red Ember's legacy will continue on as the former staff, now partners, lead Red Ember Common, Wall Street Slice, Wienerepg and now Main Street Slice to follow in the footsteps of the food truck that started it all. Our focus on using ethically raised meat using regenerative and biodynamic practices, sourcing local vegetables and flours has never been stronger. We continue to make our food from scratch, keeping control of our product and keeping the labour dollars here in Winnipeg. We truly care about what we serve and will continue to do so when the big red truck is just a memory. - Steffen Zinn
